Now hiring YOUTH DEVELOPMENT OPERATIONS LEADERS at Abraxas Leadership and Development Program, the starting pay is $19.00 per hour and offering a $2,000 sign-on bonus! Abraxas Leadership and Development Program (LDP) is in South Mountain, Pennsylvania. In this role, you will help improve the lives of at-risk youth in our community.

This position requires a minimum of six (6) months experience as a Youth Development Team Leader or experience in a similar position working with juveniles and mentoring other team members. Comprehensive paid training provided to prepare new employees for success in our team-oriented environment.

What does a Youth Development Operations Leader Do?

As a Youth Development Operations Leader, you will mentor Youth Development Team Leaders, assist in monitoring various processes on multiple units, supervise and interact with clients, observe and address client behavior, and document services in client files.

Job Duties:

  • Oversees the implementation of activities which support the daily schedule on one or more units at the facility.
  • Ensures standard operating procedures, program policy and procedures, and the client interventions process are implemented appropriately.
  • Provides effective on-the-job training to the Youth Development Team Leaders.
  • Interacts with and supervises clients during daily activities in a manner that ensures their safety and security.
  • Maintains regular communication with supervisor and co-workers.
  • Provides effective facility security including conducting headcounts, room checks, and observing client movement.
  • Observes client behavior and intervenes appropriately.
  • Processes intakes and screens clients according to program policy.
  • Facilitates and documents various groups or meetings; monitors the documentation process to ensure all services are documented as necessary each shift.
  • Administers medication or supervises self- administration of medication when necessary; ensures process is completed per policy in the absence of medical staff.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information related to client information.
  • Supports the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promotes the Seven Key Principles of care.
  • Demonstrates appropriate use of client intervention skills and Safe Crisis Management (SCM) techniques; monitors client interventions and provides guidance to other employees as necessary.

Hiring Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Detention unit employees must have an Associate's degree or sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited college or university.
  • At least twenty-one (21) years of age
  • Driver's License
  • Physical exam that includes TB and drug testing.
  • Criminal clearances (State Police, FBI and State Child Abuse Clearances)
  • Satisfactory completion of background screening and applicable pre-employment checks, including but not limited to employment and/or personal reference and driving records.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
