SURGERY TECH-KNOX CO

Overview

Assists surgeon during operative and invasive procedures.  Assures operating suite is adequately prepared for procedure.  Monitors PAR level of all surgical instruments and supplies.  Cleans and sterilizes all surgical instruments.  Participates in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities.

Responsibilities

Surgical technologists work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse/Surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgicalProcedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, thatEquipment functions properly and that the operative procedure is conductedUnder conditions that maximize patient safety. Surgical technologistsMust possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and asepticTechnique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgicalProcedures and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate aPhysician’s performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.Surgical technologists are individuals with specialized education who functionAs members of the surgical team in the role of scrub person.

Qualifications

Education

• High School graduate or equivalent.• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Program• Current Operating Room Technician Certification (preferred)• Current BCLS Certification.

Language Skills:• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Skills:• Basic computer knowledge.
