Director of Quality Engineering
Location: Atlanta, GA (Hybrid – 2–3 days onsite/week)

A growing and innovation-focused organization in the insurance and financial services sector is seeking a Director of Quality Engineering to lead the charge in modernizing and elevating its software quality practices across multiple product lines. This is a highly visible and strategic leadership role reporting directly into Platform Leadership, with influence across engineering, product, architecture, and security domains.
The right candidate will be both a visionary and a hands-on technical leader—someone who can define a scalable quality strategy while also driving the implementation of automation, governance, and process excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Execution
- Define and drive a quality engineering strategy aligned with Agile, DevOps, and enterprise engineering goals.
- Serve as a technical thought leader in automated testing, code quality, and software performance assurance.
- Lead a geographically distributed team of QA engineers embedded across multiple value streams.
Process Engineering & Governance
- Standardize defect management, triage, and resolution processes to accelerate issue resolution.
- Promote consistency in tools, automation frameworks, and testing methodologies.
- Develop and report on meaningful quality KPIs to enable transparency and drive continuous improvement.
Team Development & Cross-Functional Influence
- Mentor QA professionals and develop technical leaders within the team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, curiosity, and innovation in quality engineering.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, Architecture, and Cybersecurity teams to embed quality into all phases of software delivery.
Qualifications
- 10 years in software engineering or quality assurance, with 5 years in leadership roles.
- Demonstrated success leading QA or QE strategy within an enterprise Agile environment.
- Proficiency in modern CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, cloud-native architectures, and DevOps QA practices.
- Hands-on experience with performance testing, test data management, and test observability tools.
- Prior exposure to regulated or compliance-driven industries such as insurance, fintech, or healthtech is preferred.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across technical and business audiences.
