DESCRIPTION:
Works as a wastewater operator at an Industrial wastewater pre-treatment facility for a customer located in Frank- fort, KY. Performs a full range of duties as assigned in the operation, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and control of an industrial wastewater facility and related facilities. This is a unique opportunity to be at the fore- front of a new plant startup that includes anaerobic bio reactor technology. We are looking for individuals that have pre-existing experience in similar industrial pre-treatment, municipal class III or anaerobic reactor digestor experience.

POSITIONS AVAILABLE:

Wastewater Operator – Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Operates, maintains, monitors, controls, and manages repairs on all water reclamation plant process equipment, including pumps, motors, aerators, blowers, chemical feeds, sludge equipment, and laboratory in- struments to ensure treated water meets local, state and EPA quality standards.
• Obtains water samples and performs water reclamation lab tests including COD, CBOD, PH, Alkalinity, Phos- phorous, Ammonia, volatile acids, etc.
• Conducts various lab tests to determine proper process and operational controls.
• Operations of DAFs, Centrifuges, Disc Filters, Anaerobic reactors, MBBRs, etc.
• Recognizes the need for and makes basic treatment and operational changes to the water reclamation pro- cesses and collection systems to meet water quality standards.
• Monitors and adjusts flows through wastewater plant systems.
• Monitors and operates telemetry system and computerized process monitoring equipment.
• Makes equipment adjustments, lubrications, and minor repairs and or prepares problem reports.
• Reads and interprets meters, gauges, and instruments.
• Responsible for logging all relevant lab, plant, maintenance and pertinent information of the plant in plant computer and sending daily process information to stakeholders.
• Inventories, estimates usage, and prepares orders for chemicals and supplies. Ensures quality of material received.
• Unloads and stores hazardous chemicals, batches and mixes hazardous chemical solutions and transfers bulk storage to day tanks for chemical feed operations.
• Assists other water reclamation personnel in the performance of facility maintenance.
• Assists with public relations by answering inquiries and complaints and giving plant tours.
• Assists in training operators.
• Requires driving to and from various locations including samples to the lab for regulatory testing.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Operate and properly dispose of residual sludge dewatering facilities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision from Supervisor/Lead Operator.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Work requires sustained climbing 40-foot vertical ladders, standing, lifting of up to 50 pounds, and walking over uneven terrain within an industrial environment.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Kentucky Class I Wastewater Certification or ability to obtain within 1-year.
• Ability to work with others.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of Operations, methods, practices, techniques, and servicing requirements of water reclamation plants and related facilities.
• Must demonstrate a thorough mechanical and electrical aptitude to maintain water reclamation facilities.
• Safety practices in operation of electrical, mechanical, gas equipment used in water reclamation plants.
• Recognize and react to treatment process changes and demands and perform arithmetic calculations.
• Comprehend and operate telemetry and computerized process control systems
• Perform standardized water quality tests, operate a computer, and keep neat and accurate records and make computer entries. Read and interpret meters, charts, gauges, and recording devices.
• Understand and follow written and oral instructions and regulations
• Provide training to lower-level operators and cross training to peer operators.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with an attention to customer satisfaction.
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.
• Must wear appropriate Personal protection equipment including hard hat, high visibility vests, steal toe boots, safety glasses, safety masks, respirators, fall protection, gas monitoring devices.

SPECIAL REQUIRMENTS:

• Ability to work on call as needed
• AUS training program and operator certification incentive program: AUS will enroll new operators in AUS training program to ascertain professional Wastewater licenses for operation of wastewater facilities. AUS covers all costs of training, programs, license fees, testing fees, continuing education costs. Additional license earned towards Wastewater Certification in the field of reference will be awarded with pay incentives.
• Must be willing to travel for safety training and wastewater training.
• Possession of a valid Indiana or Kentucky driver's license and demonstrated safe driving record.
• Applicants will be required to undergo drug testing prior to employment and will be subject to further drug and alcohol testing throughout their period of employment in accordance with the Aqua Utility Services Sub- stance Abuse policy.
