Key Responsibilities
Spray Application Responsibilities
Apply gel coat or similar spray-applied coatings in a consistent, even, and controlled manner.
Mix, adjust, and prepare coating materials to achieve proper color, viscosity, and spray consistency.
Inspect molds or surfaces prior to spraying to ensure cleanliness, proper preparation, and readiness.
Operate and maintain spray equipment, including guns, hoses, pumps, and air systems.
Fiberglass & Production Support
Cut, place, and roll fiberglass materials to reinforce molded components (training provided if needed).
Ensure proper saturation (wet-out) of fiberglass with resin.
Identify and correct defects such as dry spots, air pockets, or surface inconsistencies.
Monitor cure times and ensure finished parts meet company and customer specifications.
Quality & Safety
Perform visual inspections on completed parts to verify coating thickness, uniformity, and surface quality.
Accurately document materials used, production quantities, and batch information.
Follow all safety procedures, including required PPE for spray operations.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
Equipment & Maintenance
Clean spray guns, hoses, and equipment at the end of each shift.
Report equipment issues and assist with basic troubleshooting and maintenance.
Ensure proper handling and storage of chemicals and materials in accordance with safety guidelines.
Qualifications
Professional spray-painting experience required (automotive, industrial, or residential/commercial painting accepted).
Gel coat spraying or fiberglass lamination experience preferred but not required.
Familiarity with spray equipment, surface preparation, and material mixing.
Ability to read and follow production instructions and measurements.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs., and work in warm shop conditions.
