Job Title: Bus Driver (part-time)

Supervisor: Athletic Director

Job Status: non-exempt (hourly)/ Salary Range: $24.00-$25.00/Hour

15-29 hours/week

Supervisory Responsibility: None Date: July 2024

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Aquinas Institute of Rochester is accepting applications to establish a pool of candidates to fill an opening for a part-time Bus Driver position. The bus driver is responsible for the safe operation of a passenger bus used in transporting passengers to various locations. The bus driver is responsible for the safety of students-athletes and staff while in transit to and from designated locations for the purpose of team competitions and or shuttles. Applicants must meet all State and Federal pre-employment requirements of the position prior to employment including appropriate driver’s license for type of vehicle(s) being operated. Applicants must commit to availability for weekdays, some weekends, evenings, on an as needed basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Safely transport passengers
• Safely operate passenger buses
• Perform pre/post trip vehicle safety inspections
• Assist in the loading and unloading process
• Clean interior and exterior of vehicle(s) post-trip
• Fuel vehicle(s)
• Report maintenance needs

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Working knowledge of the Vehicle and Traffic Law as it applies to the safe and legal operation of vehicles operated
• Ability to physically operate assigned vehicles safely and effectively under various road conditions
• Ability to plan routes to specific locations and to properly estimate time required to reach the locations
• Ability to communicate orally for the purpose of exchanging information
• Ability to clean bus interior and exterior.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must possess a valid NYS CDL Class B Driver’s License with Passenger Endorsement, school bus endorsement and air brake endorsement.
• Must possess a valid NYS Driver’s License appropriate to all vehicle(s) operated
• Must have successful pre-employment background check and also have finger printing for Federal and NYS clearance
• Must submit to continuous random testing and be able to pass all 19A required testing such as drug/alcohol test
• Minimum 3 years’ experience driving passenger buses

High School diploma or GED equivalent

Knowledge and Experience:

• Must have working knowledge of the Vehicle and Traffic Law as it applies to the safe and legal operation of the vehicles operated
• Ability to physically operate assigned vehicle’s safely and effectively under various road conditions

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 29 per week
