Production Technician – Bennettsville Carolina Particleboard

SCHEDULE: 12-hour rotating shift (days/nights)

SUMMARY

Safely and productively package and warehouse units to meet the specific standards of the customer.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Complete product changes through efficient and effective operation of the bander.
• This requires placing runners in the runner dispenser- Average 8 lbs. Requires constant bending, twisting and lifting throughout the shift.
• There are times when employee may have to remove entire boards from stack with assistance from another team member. Average weight is 40lbs.
• Complete paperwork and computer entries for ticket data and pass down information. This includes accurately documenting downtime with a detailed description of the issues.
• Communicate with Supervisor, Saw Operator, and Lift Driver regarding production.
• Closely monitor product for quality concerns and communicate issues with appropriate team members for effective resolution.
• Actively participate in any problem-solving meeting and contribute to improving the process.
• Set-up and operate bander computer and ticket printer while constantly monitoring equipment and process.
• Operate forklift- requires constantly getting on and off the forklift throughout the entire shift. Demands exceptional hand and eye coordination. Moving units and lifting is a lot more intense when operating forklift. Employee will be expected to lift heavier boards (1-2 at a time with assistance) and more often. Must be able to focus. Warehouse is congested and not climate controlled.
• Communicate with the incoming shift concerning bander issues, quality issues, order running, and any other information.
• Update log book throughout shift as required.
• Responsible for completing check sheets.
• Maintain banding equipment and work with maintenance team members to keep equipment in good working order and resolve any issues.
• Communicate effectively through the utilization of electronic mail. This includes checking and responding to emails during each shift as required.
• Assist in the development of and follow SOP’s and JHA’s.

REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to lift 50 lbs required
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook preferred
• Prior manufacturing experience
• Wear proper PPE at all times as required
• Become lock-out certified for the area
• Ensure control room/area remains neat and clean
• Be aware of all personnel working in the area
• Ensure exercises responsible environmental stewardship in all areas of our business.
• Perform housekeeping regularly and during downtime
• Actively participate and positively contribute to the safety program
• Extensive walking throughout the Mill daily
• Bending, standing all day (12 hour shift)
• Climbing onto a forklift, walking up stairs – daily
• Capable of working rotating shift (days/night)
