Maintenance Manager Job Description

Overall Responsibility:
Responsible for supervising maintenance staff, and will perform general building and property maintenance. Maintain heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems and equipment, and coordinate the day to day operation of the maintenance department. Responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.

Accountabilities:

1. Ensure adequate spare parts, efficient flow, and the timely shipment of product to meet the daily production requirements.
2. Ensure that the Capability and Performance targets of all Manufacturing Processes are met through efficient downtime analysis and predictive maintenance.
3. Assist with increasing product profitability through the continual improvement of manufacturing and work processes.
4. Provide manufacturing and technical knowledge and skills to support all aspects of production ensuring profitable, on-time, quality product to customers while maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.
5. In conjunction with the Production Manager, plan and process product flow for the Detroit plant including the maintenance of the MRP system as well as Maintenance Connection
6. Manage and Maintain WCM Pillars for autonomous maintenance
7. In conjunction with the engineering department determine prototype scheduling based on customer requirements.
8. Provide additional support with scheduling and implementation of the Preventive Maintenance programs.
9. Assist with the planning and implementation of changes to machinery and equipment and any associated scheduling requirements in conjunction with the Production and Engineering teams.
10. Assist with scheduling and implementation of Continuous Improvement projects In conjunction with the Production and Engineering Managers.
11. Provide training to co-workers and help maintain Standard Operating Procedures, Best Practices and Job Safe Practices to ensure the transfer of knowledge to others.
12. Manage Preventative Maintenance for the team, report out monthly on the results and accomplishments

Skills, Requirements, and Personal Traits:

• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Previous exposure to robotic or automated manufacturing, with experience homing and troubleshooting robotic issues is a must.
• Possesses a strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
• Knowledge or exposure to welding is considered an asset.
• Exposure to ISO14001 and TS16949 standards is considered an asset.
• Experience participating in World Class Manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives is considered an asset.
• Relevant experience in a maintenance role, license in mechanical/electrical trade is an asset.
• Ability to lead cross functional teams Proactive in learning and development activities
• Proven ability to work with and develop people
• Experience working in the automotive industry is required.
