Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate to Build a New Marine Business Unit Lead actuarial efforts to establish and grow the Marine portfolio, including pricing frameworks, monitoring tools, and strategic input. Partner with underwriting and leadership to shape the direction of the business.
- Tool Development Design, build, and maintain Excel-based pricing and monitoring tools to support Marine underwriting and portfolio management. Excel will serve as a stepping stone—part of your role will be to help evaluate, recommend, and implement a more strategic long-term solution for pricing infrastructure and analytics.
- Profitability Reviews & New Business Analysis Evaluate Marine products using actuarial techniques to assess portfolio profitability and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Actuarial Research & Methodology Conduct studies to refine pricing methodologies, segmentations, and assumptions specific to Ocean and Inland Marine exposures.
- Team Leadership & Partnership Manage one direct report and collaborate with a broader team of actuaries. Foster a culture of innovation, shared learning, and cross-functional teamwork.
- Monitoring & Reporting Track rate changes, pricing adequacy, and underwriting mix for new and renewal business. Provide actionable insights to Marine underwriters and leadership.

- Credentials: FCAS preferred; ACAS or equivalent actuarial designation accepted.
- Experience: 8 years in P&C actuarial roles; most AVPs have 8–12 years or more of experience.
- Marine Expertise: Experience in Ocean or Inland Marine lines is ideal. Alternatively, experience building a new business unit or pricing function from scratch is highly valued.
- Technical Skills: Advanced Excel and VBA required; familiarity with Python or SQL a plus.
- Business Acumen: Strong understanding of insurance products, underwriting, and claims.
- Leadership: Experience managing or mentoring others and working cross-functionally.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.

- Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
