What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Internship (Engineering Aide) position at Architect of the Capitol?
The AOC has unique and exciting opportunities to serve as an Engineering Aide during the Summer Internship Program. This program offers hands on professional experience, networking, training, and most of all, exposure to careers in public service, on Capitol Hill.
Qualifications:
All students MUST be U.S. Citizens or a person who is lawfully admitted for permanent residence and is seeking citizenship as outlined in 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)(B).
Applications will be accepted from students who are at least sixteen (16) years of age by June 30, 2025, AND currently attending a high school, college or university.
High school students must have experience with computer aided design (CAD) and/or geographic information systems (GIS). College students must have a major in engineering or architecture or other related fields such as civil engineering, architectural engineering, etc.
Note: Participation in the Summer Intern Employment Program is limited to a total of three years. Candidates are eligible to participate no more than three years, collectively or consecutively, in the Summer Intern Employment Program. Candidates who have reached the three years in the program will be deemed ineligible to participate this calendar year.
Responsibilities:
Engineering Aide
This internship provides excellent professional experience for students who are seeking or pursuing Engineering degrees. As an intern in this role, you'll have an opportunity to leverage your CAD experience, and assist Engineers with basic drafting, surveying, and other relevant engineering tasks for buildings, facilities and grounds of the Capitol Hill Complex. The work also consists of administrative related tasks in support of engineering projects to include, research, drafting documents, as well as design and project management support.
