As a General Laborer with our Underground Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for the installation of electrical and communications underground infrastructure throughout North Dakota, South Dakota, and Western Minnesota. About The Position
As a General Laborer with our Underground Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for the installation of electrical and communications underground infrastructure throughout North Dakota, South Dakota, and Western Minnesota. You will play a crucial role in assisting with various tasks related to the construction and maintenance of underground infrastructure systems. Your responsibilities will involve physical labor, operating machinery, and working in a diverse underground environment. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Day in the life
- Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of underground infrastructure systems, following established procedures and safety protocols.
- Perform manual labor tasks, such as digging trenches, excavating, backfilling, and compacting soil using hand tools and power equipment.
- Assist in the assembly, placement, and alignment of underground pipes, conduits, and utility lines.
- Operate and maintain various tools and equipment, such as jackhammers, shovels, pickaxes, tampers, pipe cutters, and power saws.
- Assist in the setup and operation of machinery, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and trenchers, under the supervision of qualified operators.
- Follow blueprints, diagrams, and instructions to ensure accurate placement and connection of underground infrastructure components.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tools, machinery, and work areas to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Comply with all safety regulations, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and report any unsafe conditions or incidents to the supervisor.
- Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders to coordinate workflow and accomplish project goals.
- Adhere to project schedules and deadlines, demonstrating punctuality and a commitment to completing assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Communicate effectively with team members, reporting progress, challenges, and suggestions for process improvements.
- Common Tools and Equipment:
- Shovels, spades, and other excavation tools
- Pickaxes and mattocks for breaking up hard surfaces
- Tampers for compacting soil and aggregate
- Pipe cutters and wrenches for handling pipes and fittings
- Personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety boots, gloves, safety glasses, and high-visibility clothing
- Various power tools, such as drills, grinders, and impact wrenches
- Heavy machinery, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, trenchers, and compactors (operated by qualified operators
No Experience Required - We will train you
- Ability to lift 75 lbs
- Ability to work as a team with a positive attitude and good work ethic
- Valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record
- A Class A CDL license is a plus
- Must be able to obtain a DOT medical card
- Must be able to travel in the North Dakota, South Dakota, and Western Minnesota areas with occasional overnight stay as necessary
