Loan Underwriter

Essential Functions

• Underwrite business purpose rental investor loans in compliance with credit guidelines.
• Review loan files for completeness, identify missing documentation and approve borrower background.
• Collaborate with Sales, Processors, Managers and Closers to communicate guideline requirements and finalize loan scenarios.
• Must be able to prioritize time sensitive deadlines.
• Manage pipeline of 60 loans with efficiency and accuracy.
• Participate in weekly pipeline meeting.
• Identify and evaluate strengths, mitigating factors, and weaknesses of the loan request and escalate risks and issues.
• Prepare and submit exception memos for scenarios falling outside guidelines.
• Perform duties and responsibilities specific to department functions & activities.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned by Manager.

Education and Experience

• 2 years’ experience underwriting business purpose and/or multifamily, commercial loans.
• 2 years’ experience reviewing guarantor and borrower background reports, including entity documentation to determine ownership and borrower structure.
• 5 years of analytical experience within financial services, commercial banking, or business purpose lending.
