What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welder position at Arcosa?
Arcosa Marine is searching for a Safety Oriented Senior Welder in our Ashland City, TN barge plant. As a Senior Welder you will apply appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials according to layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics, and sketches using manual, auto welding, and / or semi-automatic welding equipment.
Arcosa Marine Products, Inc., is part of Arcosa’s Inland Barge Group, and is a leading manufacturer of barges used to transport cargo on inland waterways.
Arcosa Marine Products manufactures dry cargo barges, including flat-deck and hopper barges, that are used to transport a variety of products including grain, coal, and aggregates.
Arcosa Marine Products also manufactures tank barges that carry petroleum, fertilizer, ethanol, chemicals, and other liquid cargoes.
It is the largest manufacturer of fiberglass hopper barge covers used primarily on grain barges. Additionally, Arcosa Marine Products provides a full line of deck hardware to the marine industry, including hatches, castings, and winches for towboats and dock facilities.
What you will do :
- Follow Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
- Proficiently perform flat (F), horizontal (F), vertical (F), and overhead (F) fillet welds
- Proficiently perform flat (G), horizontal (G), vertical (G), and overhead (G) groove welds
- Inspect you own welds to make sure all Quality requirements are met
- Follow all safety rules and practices
- May be involved in safety committees or initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned
What you will need :
- Minimum of years of FCAW weld experience
- Understand weld layout and processes
- Ability to read blueprints
- Satisfactorily pass vertical and overhead fillet welding as well as groove welding tests using manual and semi-automatic welding processes
- Must demonstrate ability to carbon arc gouge and to use the oxy-fuel cutting process
- Must be able to inspect own finished welds to meet quality standards
- Must be able to perform welding work while wearing all required personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a filtering face piece and / or tight fitting respirator
- May require working above ground ( ft or more)
- May require working in narrow or confined work spaces for extended periods of time
- May require extensive kneeling, bending, walking and / or standing for long periods of time
- Willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed
