Brief Summary:
Perform routine tests in medical laboratory to provide data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease and assist Laboratory Manager with quality assurance and instrument maintenance activities.

Essential Job Functions
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative clinical chemical analysis of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid
- Analyze blood samples for transfusion and hematological purposes; such as cellular morphology, white cell differentials, blood typing, antibody screens, compatibility testing, etc.
- Evaluate Microbiological specimens to identify and perform susceptibility testing on Microorganisms
- Perform instrument and lab maintenance tasks on equipment utilized in the laboratory
- Ability to accurately log and review patient testing results in patients’ medical records
- Proficiency in Patient specimen collection following established policies and protocols
- Positive patient interaction and identification
- Proficient oral, written, and clerical skills
- Ability to accurately enter data into computer system
- Willingness and capability to perform tasks required
- Proactive use of time
- Preparation and processing of specimens
- Maintenance of confidentiality in accordance to hospital policy
- Recognize, analyze, and take corrective actions to resolve instrument/clinical problems
- Assist the Laboratory Manager in quality-assurance activities, Quality Control Review, and staff training
- Assist the Laboratory Manager in inventory control, requisition of supplies, and contribute to general laboratory functions to meet institutional needs
Education:
- Successful completion of a Baccalaureate Degree Program in Medical Technology preferred
- Minimum of two-years generalist work experience in high complexity testing
Certification/Licensure:
- ASCP certification or equivalent nationally recognized Medical Technology certification
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Professional knowledge of medical technology concepts and principles
- Basic understanding of quality control, preventative maintenance, and quality assurance requirements
- Positive problem solving and interpersonal skills
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment
- Proficiency in Patient specimen collection following established policies and protocols
- Proficient oral, written, clerical, and analytical skills
- Ability to accurately enter data into computer system
- Willingness to learn and capability to perform tasks required.
