Land Development Project Engineer

Ardurra is seeking a Land Development Project Engineer to join our staff in Knoxville, TN.

Primary Function

The candidate shall be capable of applying diversified knowledge of design engineering principles and practices, and independently making decisions on design engineering problems or methods, participate in the development of project design concepts and criteria, make recommendations on project staffing, analyze complex design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures, consult with construction personnel concerning design constructability, monitor project progress for technical accuracy and adherence to schedule and budget, provide input for proposals, engage with proposal teams, managers, represent respective projects at meetings and conferences, plan, organize, and supervise design engineering activities for projects.

Primary Duties

• Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external partners including clients, sub consultants, and utility companies.
• Serves as Task Lead and coordinates with team members to execute projects.
• Provide municipal services to review land development submittals for compliance with municipal code, conditions of approval, and best design practices
• Develops plans and prepares technical specifications, and cost estimates.
• Assists with project execution and delivery including development of project scope, budget, and schedule.
• Mentors and supervises junior engineer staff.
• Assists with project proposal development when needed.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited university or college.
• 5-8 years of related experience in process, engineering, and design.
• Tennessee PE license is required.
• Local knowledge of agency requirements.
• Experience preparing final design plans, specifications and construction cost estimates.
• Excellent written, oral and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivating, team-oriented work practices, strong analysis and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Civil 3D drafting and design.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
