What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant, Compost Cats Program (Part Time) position at arizona?

Support for the FoodCycle Program:

  • Support the existing FoodCycle Program partnership between Compost Cats, the City of Tucson’s Environmental & General Services Department, and businesses around Tucson to improve and further promote commercial composting throughout the community.  This would require traveling to and visiting these businesses to ensure organic waste quality.
  • Monitor, log, track, and record key performance indicators to ensure the success of the FoodCycle Program. The metrics are collected at commercial businesses, or at the composting facility, all of them located outside of campus.
  • Screen and redirect inquiries regarding the FoodCycle Program to the appropriate parties at the City of Tucson or to the Compost Cats Program Manage.

Support for Compost Cats Demonstration Sites:

  • Support the existing Compost Cats Demonstration Sites in partnership with Tucson Village Farm, the Cooper Center for Environmental Learning, and the University of Arizona Community Garden to improve and further promote environmental and organic waste management education, primarily for K-12 audiences.
  • Maintain the physical infrastructure and support the creation of new projects and programming at each Demonstration Site.
  • Screen and redirect inquiries regarding the Demonstration Sites to the appropriate parties the Compost Cats Program Manager or the Compost Cats Coordinator.

Support for the Overall Program:

  • Coordinate and facilitate weekly meetings to review program and project progress, events, student updates, and ongoing training.
  • Assist in the general coordination of projects programs, including preparing project plans, scheduling and maintaining accurate document management systems, and tracking progress, tasks, deliverables, and timeline of projects, while identifying and resolving challenges with minimal supervision from the Compost Cats Program Manager.
  • Establish contact with appropriate community and University departments.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Compost Cats Program Manager in an orderly and efficient manner.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and positive attitude, with the ability to favorably represent Compost Cats and the Office of Sustainability to our campus and community stakeholder.
  • Knowledge and understanding of diversity and an ability to work with a wide variety of people, recognizing the needs of students and community members with an underrepresented or oppressed identity.
  • Understanding of organic decomposition, composting methods, practices, equipment, and operation of such diverse compost systems.
