What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant position at Arlington Animal Hospital?
Our AAHA-accredited veterinary practice is seeking an enthusiastic Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician with a strong work ethic and positive attitude to join our veterinary team. This position requires a practical knowledge of hospital organization, standard procedures, animal restraint, and veterinary terminology used in the hospital and two years or more of experience. We strive to provide excellent customer service to our clients and support to the veterinarians and technicians.
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
- Check in animals for appointments: SOAP and TPR
- Assist Veterinarian with examinations
- Restrain animals for exams, blood draws, injections, and other procedures
- Assist in surgery and dental procedures
- Care for and monitor the condition of animals recovering from surgery
- Assist with radiographs
- Provide veterinarians with the correct equipment and supplies, as needed
- Perform tech procedures - nail trim, anal gland expression, subcutaneous fluids, ear cleanings, etc.
- Prepare animals for surgery, performing such tasks as restraint for catheters, intubation, and shaving surgical areas
- Assist in collection, preparation and labeling samples for laboratory testing, culture, or microscopic examination
- Prepare medications, vaccines, and serums as prescribed by veterinarians
- Perform laboratory tests
- Clean and stock the hospital
- Fill prescriptions
- Maintain a clean hospital
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour

Experience:
- Veterinary experience: 1 year (Preferred)
