What are the responsibilities and job description for the Circulation Assistant position at Arlington Heights Memorial Library?
Responsible for the check out and check in of materials, money handling, registering new customers for library cards and using the library’s databases to assist customers. Position works almost exclusively with the public and requires a positive and friendly customer service attitude. Ability to work well in a team environment required. Applies library circulation policies while providing Unparalleled Customer Service.
Requirements & Skills:
Familiarity with Microsoft Office products (especially Outlook mail and Word) is required. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment and excel in Our Culture.
Education:
High School degree or equivalency.
Hours and Scheduling:
Part-time, average 24 hours per week. Shifts scheduled on six week rotation and include afternoon, evenings and weekends hours. Flexibility in scheduling and participation in weekend rotation required.
Schedule:
- Every other Tuesday 12-6 p.m.
- Every other Wednesday 5-9:15 p.m.
- Thursdays, alternating 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. or 12-8 p.m.
- Every other Friday 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
Salary and Benefits:
Pay starts at $15.08/hour.
Benefits include two weeks of vacation plus sick, personal leave and holiday pay, as well as participation in Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) pension plan and availability of Roth/457 savings plan.
