JOB DESCRIPTION:
Human Resources announces an opening for an Hourly GED instructor for the Individual Student Alternative Education Plan.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ability to teach high school students.
*Flexible, patient, dependable, independent worker, highly organized.
*Ability to attend state-wide GED/I.S.A.E.P. meetings and training workshops when necessary.
*Ability to assist, develop and plan an educational GED plan/program for individual students or
a group of students.
*Assist in the implementation of ISAEP program guidelines.
*Ability to interpret and fulfill GED state-wide policy regarding students under the age of 18. *Ability and willingness to communicate effectively with co-workers, parents, students, school counselors, probation officers and mental health staff.
*Monitor student progress by reviewing assessment information obtained from placement
assessments and GED Ready/Practice Tests.
*Maintain ISAEP student records and portfolio folder.
*Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
*Experience working in a high school setting.
*Experience with at risk youth preferred
*Experience with students requiring IEP's preferred
*Adult Education/GED experience preferred
*Experience working with students, families, and staff from various cultural and linguistic
backgrounds.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure. Successful classroom experience of three years or more.
