English and Middle School Teacher

Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fostering a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement and academic success. This role requires a strong foundation in English language arts, along with the ability to develop and implement effective curricula that meet diverse student needs. The English Teacher will play a crucial role in enhancing students' writing, reading, and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and educational goals.
• Utilize various teaching methods and learning technologies to engage students effectively.
• Provide instruction in areas such as creative writing, journalism, literacy education, and linguistics.
• Assess student performance through standardized testing, projects, and classroom participation, providing constructive feedback for improvement.
• Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a conducive learning environment.
• Mentor students in their academic pursuits and provide guidance on higher education options.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and instructional design initiatives.
• Maintain organized records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents regarding academic performance.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with educational best practices.

Experience

• Proven experience working with students in an educational setting, preferably in a classroom environment.
• Familiarity with curriculum development processes and instructional design principles.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with excellent organizational abilities.
• Experience in tutoring or mentoring students is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style and AP style for effective writing instruction is a plus.
• Background in special education or experience within private school settings is advantageous.
