About the Role
Arrupe Jesuit High School is seeking a Temporary Contracted Theology Teacher to foster student learning and growth through the implementation of a college preparatory education. The teacher will create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment, incorporating Ignatian pedagogical principles that encourage personal growth, intellectual curiosity, and social responsibility. This position is temporary and will run from 10/6/2025 - 1/1/2026 with no expectation of continuation after 1/1/2026.
Assessment
- Use formative and summative student data to inform planning and instructional delivery
- Design Assessment, both formal and informal, that best measures student learning
Curriculum
- Implementation of a standards-based and college-preparatory curriculum
- Identify appropriate student learning targets for a wide range of learners
- Design learning opportunities that build upon student knowledge and skills in collaboration with the Pastoral Department
- Design supplementary activities that build upon student knowledge and skills
Instruction
- Effectively instruct adolescent learners in an urban setting
- Use effective, research-based classroom practices
- Communicate with teachers, parents, students and school leadership regarding student performance
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or Theology or related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Strong knowledge of Catholic education and Jesuit education principles
- Deep understanding of Catholic theology, scripture and traditions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to create an inclusive, engaging and supporting classroom environment
- Proficiency in educational technology; Google Workspace experience preferred
- Classroom management and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and school administrators
