What You Will Do
The Physician Extender is responsible for completing admissions including initial history and physical, assessing and diagnosing substance use disorders, obtaining writing informed consent, and ordering medication as appropriate and in accordance with state and federal laws, and best practices. Under mid-level waiver, physician extender may order medication for treatment of opioid use disorder. Physician extender will adhere to the vision and mission of the Company.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains professional standards and follows the treatment policies of the clinic while adhering to all state and federal regulations and accreditation agency standards applicable to individual licensure and narcotic treatment programs.
- Responsible for providing support and training to other medical staff, attending case conferences, consulting with clinic staff and patients regarding treatment and attending staff meetings/training.
- Responsible for assessing new patients and discussing with Physician.
- Conducts all history and physicals.
- Assists in dosing when needed.
- Follows up with patients regarding recommendations from Treatment Team and/or other providers.
- Proficient with understanding and applying State Licensure Standards, CARF Standards, 42 CFR and HIPAA standards and Company policies.
- Prepares reports, reviews records, and provides counseling as deemed necessary by the Medical Director and/or Program Manager.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
Must be available to work during clinic hours.
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, twist, bend, use hands or fingers, reach with hand and arms frequently throughout the workday.
Requirements:
- Licensed Physician Assistant or/ Nurse Practitioner in New Jersey, DEA-X number in New Jersey, New Jersey, and CDS registration.
- Training or experience in treating persons with opiate use disorder.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Successful completion of State required background check and required trainings (i.e., CPR and First Aid Training)
