About the Role
The Ice Sculptor Apprentice supports lead sculptors in the creation, production, packaging, and delivery of ice sculptures for events, exhibitions, and installations. Training will be provided in both traditional hand-carving techniques and CNC-assisted production. Work takes place in studios, cold rooms, and on-site event locations.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
- Strong artistic eye and creative thinking
- Mechanically inclined with general knowledge of proper tool use
- Excited about work and learning new skills
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Flexible availability Monday through Friday and most Saturdays
- Ability to safely lift 100 pounds
- Ability to work in cold environments for extended periods with proper attire
- Excellent driving record
- Computer savvy and comfortable learning new software
- Comfortable taking direction and working as part of a team
Responsibilities
- Harvesting and handling ice blocks
- Assisting with carving, detailing, and finishing ice sculptures
- Packaging finished sculptures for transport
- Delivering sculptures to event and client locations
- CNC machine training and operation
- Traditional ice carving training
- Shop cleanliness, organization, and equipment maintenance
- Following all safety procedures and tool protocols
