POSITION OVERVIEW The NPP Laboratory Technician will provide support to Manufacturing, Technology, and MTS as a service organization for the generation of samples and data for release of product, product development and customer support. TARGETED OUTCOMES Perform laboratory tests and analytical methods under minimal supervision to safely and accurately deliver timely sample results and statistical data. Participate on projects/teams to drive laboratory performance with respect to results accuracy, equipment maintenance and reliability, product quality, and continuous improvement. Promote and support a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible work environment. Follow all safety rules and policies. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Operate equipment following Standard Operating Procedures and the completion of test results in a safe and timely fashion to generate accurate and reliable analytical and statistical data Monitor equipment’s condition and recognize when condition is outside the norm, taking appropriate corrective action including troubleshooting and basic repair Ensure routine equipment calibrations, preventive maintenance, and safety checks are completed and that all necessary records and logs are accurately kept. Participate in internal and external audits and drive corrective actions to completion Identify quality and productivity improvements and communicate findings, ideas and problem-solving approach. Participate in LEAN opportunities and implementation Keep accurate and precise records of data and observations in project files and secure databases. Upload documentation into electronic system for record retention. Communicate data and other technical information to the requestor through reports, spreadsheets, and laboratory systems (LIMS, Test Author, SLR, etc.) Perform routine laboratory housekeeping activities (i.e., clean equipment used, tidy workspace). Participate in training and cross training sessions. Maintain compliance with all training requirements Communicate all abnormalities, items that do not look correct, questions on requests, broken bags, wet material, unknown samples received in the lab, molding issues, support needs, to appropriate person for resolution. Submit samples to other internal labs as requested in LIMS, RSAs or lab requests (707, PAL, Special Testing) Identify all incoming samples into the lab and communicate to owner Store and dispose of samples appropriately Maintain lab and consumable supplies needed for lab through sharepoint orders or order directly through stores and SDI Ship items with appropriate paperwork, i.e. shipper, MSDS and communicate as needed with Misc. Shipping. Review ASTM, ISO, IEC and STM’s to be knowledgeable of procedures and ensure molding and testing is being done according to these standards unless otherwise noted. Ensure compliance to ISO TS16949 and A2LA requirements TEAM Reports to: Laboratory Supervisor Team Members: Laboratory Technicians REQUIRED EXPERIENCE Minimum education of Associates degree in Chemistry or a related technical field, or at least 3 years of related work experience. BS in Chemistry preferred. Experience developing, reviewing, updating laboratory test procedures and records. Experience using and creating general documents using MS Office Suite, as well as operating in LIMS and SAP Previous people or project management work strongly desired. REQUIRED SKILLS Strong laboratory skills with the ability to follow SOPs, troubleshoot equipment issues, independently or through a team process. Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with ability to effectively prioritize, organize, and plan responsibilities to meet customer needs. Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative working environment to accomplish NPP goals. General math skills for the calculation of blending, let down ratios, and understanding of SQC Information Capable of lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds when necessary.
