Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records by performing daily bookkeeping tasks and supporting month-end and year-end processes. This role will be responsible for the bookkeeping of multiple entities with varying levels of activity. The position also includes general administrative tasks to ensure efficient department operations.
Job Type: Contract / Part-Time
Location: Hybrid / Fort Wayne
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• None.
Accounting Duties/Responsibilities:
• Performs general accounting and other related duties for the organization.
• Reconciles bank accounts monthly.
• Prepares month-end journal entries.
• Prepares financial reports such as balance sheets and income statements.
• Performs Accounts Payable duties.
• Performs Accounts Receivable duties.
• Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
• Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
Administrative Support:
• Support general office or department administrative tasks as assigned.
• Serve as a point of contact for internal teams and external partners when directed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow established procedures.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and QuickBooks Online.
Education and Experience:
• Associates or Bachelors Degree in Accounting and/or at least three years of related experience is required.
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
