SCHEDULE: Up to 40 hours/week
Join the Co-op team! We are looking for a full-time Accounting/Payroll Specialist to assist the Financial Manager with payroll preparation and general accounting. The successful candidate will have strong accounting background, experience with time-clock entries and adjustments and a willingness to cooperate and grow.
Job Summary: This is an accounting position responsible for assisting the Financial Manager in a variety of tasks including General Ledger accounting and payroll preparation.
Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
- Experience with accounting software and data entry. SAGE software background helpful.
- Excellent understanding of basic accounting procedures, debits, credits, and reconciliation processes.
- 3 years experience in accounting positions, financial reporting experience a plus.
- 2 years experience working with time clock data to prepare for payroll processing.
- Strong Microsoft Excel experience, building and maintaining complex spreadsheets.
- Takes initiative, is able to work independently and set own priorities.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- Excellent math and reasoning skills.
- Discreet, able to maintain confidentiality.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent attitude and willingness to be a team player.
- Excellent typing, multitasking, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
General Responsibilities:
- Monitor and resolve missing time-clock entries in a timely manner.
- Prepare payroll data for third-party payroll company to process semi-monthly payroll.
- Record payroll and related entries in general ledger.
- Prepare month and quarter end journal entries.
- Reconcile bank and other GL accounts.
- Daily sales reporting and recording.
- Maintain Accounts Receivable.
- Perform Worker's Compensation calculation.
- Process and maintain garnishments and child support orders.
- Produce various reports for internal and external users.
- Maintain confidentiality of personal information.
