JOB TITLE: Director of Nursing

SUMMARY: Provides administrative leadership and ensures the quality of the nursing programs and practices to patients referred to the Agency. The Director of Nursing is responsible for oversight and management of the clinical nursing team. The primary responsibility of the nursing team is to provide clinical coordination and direct patient care for infusion services. This includes but is not limited to coordinating the daily activities of referral, intake clinical reviews, staff / agency assignment and patient management. Additional responsibilities may include patient discharge teaching; on-call nursing support, patient visits, nursing agency in - services and other duties as required. Service delivery will occur in the patient's home or alternate site per the patient’s request.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops, implements, and monitors planning and evaluation systems to ensure quality nursing services.
- Directs development and implementation of quality and utilization standards across the continuum of care to ensure coordinated plans of treatment, customer-focused delivery of services, and cost-effective utilization of necessary services.
- Performs managerial/supervisory functions including but not limited to recruiting and maintaining adequate skilled staff, establishing, and monitoring clinical performance mechanisms, developing human relation skills in subordinate staff, assessing training needs, establishing, and maintaining reporting systems and relationships.
- Provides clinical advice and expert consultation to clinical staff and others; assists in establishing nursing goals and objectives.
- Analyzes pertinent issues and anticipates impact on target populations; provides leadership in meeting new and/or complex service/treatment challenges.
- Ensures compliance with administrative, legal, and regulatory, and governmental and accrediting agency requirements for health care organization management.
- Prepares and presents all required reports and paperwork.
- Develops and maintains department budgets.
- Maintains relationships with the academic nursing community.
- Hires, trains, supervises, motivates, and develops nursing staff; manages schedules and workflow.
- Communicate with the billing department to ensure proper billing to insurance companies, contracts, other third-party payers and patients for all products and services delivered; maintain accurate billing records.
- Assigns duties and monitors quality of work; assures staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures and government regulations.
- Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote and recognize performance.
- Keeps up to date on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directly supervises employees within the Nursing department.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess current state RN license and CPR certification.
- Four to six years of related experience or equivalent.
- Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates.
- Commitment to excellence and high standards.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Basic competence in subordinates’ duties and tasks
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow
- Insurance reimbursement knowledge and health insurance billing experience.
