POSITION SUMMARY: The Avionics Lead is responsible for coordinating and managing activities involving electrical harness fabrication, installation of harnesses, components and testing. This is an experienced-level position that supervises multiple staff and reports to the Supervisor of Avionics.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates with material expediters to prepare parts according to work orders and engineering drawings.
- Verifies availability of material and tools or equipment needed to perform job.
- Coordinates with installers and technicians to cut and strip wire, insulate connections, and perform all other duties necessary in the installation process.
- Coordinates with installers and technicians to repair and reinstall wiring or cables as needed and ensure adherence to established specifications.
- Maintains work order and calls for inspection as necessary.
- Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining good communications, coordination, and working relations with Company personnel and management.
- Assumes responsibility for ensuring that Avionics shop functions are completed in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
- Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Certification in airce
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree or certificate from an accredited 2-year college, university or technical school in avionics maintenance or electronics

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in indoor and outdoor settings. The indoor settings include office and warehouse environments which require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as safety gear. The outdoor settings include parking lots and airplane runways. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. Occasionally subject to varying inside and/or outside temperatures, which may include extreme heat (temperatures above 100 degrees) or extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees).
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions.
