AIM has an opening for a Physical Therapist in Texas to provide services in a K-12 school program. Previous school-based experience is a plus; and candidates must hold a valid PT - Physical Therapy license. We are committed to helping children and families, school leaders, and clinicians achieve success.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Ability to evaluate and treat students, helping them negotiate the school environment, improve school performance and engage with their peers
- Serves as a member of the IEP team for students with physical therapy concerns
- Facilitate goals and objectives per child’s educational plan
- Personal commitment to driving positive outcomes for students
- Collaborative minded professional with strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work and build strong relationships with parents, teachers, and school administrators
- Experience working in schools or with children is a plus, but not required
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide appropriate, individualized instruction to each student on the caseload
- Develop schedules that meet the goals of each student
- Provide consultation and assistance to staff as to skills to implement in the classroom
- Establish open, frequent communication with parents, and all related service staff
- Make recommendations for time need to implement goals
- Participate in appropriate staff meetings as requested
- Establish and maintain a positive atmosphere in working with staff in order that this atmosphere will be carried over for the student
- Conduct Assessment
- Direct instructional services
- 504 or ARD attendance
- Consultation with school staff or other AIM staff members.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job.
- Regular District-wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned; frequent standing, stooping, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, heavy lifting, and moderate carrying.
- May be required to lift and transfer students to and from wheelchairs or assist with positioning students with physical disabilities.
- Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment
