Description

Scope of Responsibilities:

? Provides services to contractors engaged in highway, bridge, transit, rail, and airport runway construction.

? Staff Liaison for Highway and Transportation Division leadership, members and committees.

? Serves as AGC’s principal staff liaison to the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials and career staff at the Department of Transportation, including the Federal Highway Administration, Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Transit Administration, and Federal Rail Administration.

? Presents new legislation and rulemakings to the Division to gather feedback as needed and help inform AGC decision making.

? Provides information to other departments, members and chapters on activities of the Division. 

? Public relations, grassroots and outreach activation and cultivation


Duties:

Staff Liaison for Highway and Transportation Division and Committees

? Provides staff support to the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Highway Division.

? Provides staff support to the following AGC committees:

- Highway Work Zone Safety Committee 

- AASHTO-AGC-ARTBA Joint Committee

- Division Steering Committee

? Arranges and executes committee meetings, including coordination with appropriate agencies, formulation of schedule of events and meeting agenda, attending to meeting planning and logistics, preparation of briefing materials, and preparation of committee reports.

? Plans, organizes and carries out annual Highway and Utilities Contractors Issues Meeting, as applicable.

? Responds to member and chapter inquiries regarding matters of interest or concern to contractors involved in highway, bridge or airport runway construction and other concerns.


Provides information to other departments, members and chapters on activities of the Division. 

? Develops information, brochures, publications, educational material and other products to promote highway, bridge, transit, rail and airport runway construction markets and responds to the information needs of contractors involved in these construction markets.

? Helps to promote and market the products and services of the Division/AGC.


Serves as AGC's principal staff liaison to the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials and the career staff at the Department of Transportation, including the Federal Highway Administration, Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Transit Administration, and Federal Rail Administration.


? Monitors legislation, regulations, and other executive agency actions affecting contractors engaged in highway, bridge, transit, rail and airport runway construction.

? Meets with DOT to share concerns and develop and implement policies that will improve the construction process and the end product.

? Primary conduit for communications with AASHTO—responsible for representing AGC at meetings and reporting on AASHTO meetings


Presents legislation and rulemakings to the Division to gather feedback as needed and help inform AGC decision making.

? Assists in in the development of important AGC policy messages by coordinating with Highway and Transportation Division members.

? Assists in identifying and preparing witnesses for congressional hearings as needed.

? Assists with lobbying on policy issues with the hill and other coalitions as needed.


Public Relations, Grassroots and Outreach Activation and Cultivation

? Prepares special newsletters, bulletins, magazine articles and newsletter articles informing AGC members of critical issues impacting highway, bridge, transit, rail and airport runway construction.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of and experience working with Capitol Hill on major infrastructure advancement/investment and funding policy issues
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Motivation and ability to respond to multiple issues simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 products
  • An individual who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, working effectively with colleagues across the organization
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
