Job Title: Senior Program Manager, Building Decarbonization Programs

Projected Salary Range: $100,000 – $160,000/year
Overview: Association for Energy Affordability (AEA) is a rapidly growing nonprofit energy services and training organization dedicated to achieving energy efficiency in buildings to foster and maintain affordable and healthy housing and communities. Energy consulting services are completed through AEA’s participation in a variety of federal, state, and local energy efficiency initiatives. Position Summary: AEA West is seeking a Senior Program Manager to join our tight-knit, talented team of “Energy Geeks”. The candidate must be passionate about energy efficiency and green building, highly organized, and be able to work with a diverse group of stakeholders.
The Senior Program Manager will oversee the day-to-day management and process flow of programs directed at providing building decarbonization and energy efficiency services to multifamily buildings, single family and manufactured homes. The Senior Program Manager will also be expected to manage contract budget and deliverables, perform contract management responsibilities associated with these programs, and interact with both the clients, subcontractors, and partners.
Additionally, they will coordinate with Program Managers and other staff leading contract services as well as the Project Managers and Associates, who conduct energy audits of multifamily buildings, provide engineering analysis at the project level, design and manage retrofit projects, perform green building assessments, and conduct technology and market assessments. The Senior Program Manager will engage in program design, project scheduling, data analysis, report production, and database development and management as needed to complete to deliver high impact energy efficiency and building decarbonization programs. They are expected to be a self-starter, an independent problem solver, and a strong team-player.
For this position, AEA is hiring for primary location in the San Francisco Bay Area, but may be able to accommodate remote work if candidate is based in Sacramento/Central Valley, Southern California, or Central Coast Region. Candidates must have the ability to travel within California upon request.
Responsibilities:
The Senior Program Manager may be responsible for:
- Managing energy efficiency and/or building decarbonization implementation
- Contract management , creating and tracking program budgets, targets and work plans to ensure compliance with contract requirements and deliverables
- Coordinating, communicating with, and reporting to Program Administrators (federal, state, and local agencies, utilities, Community Choice Aggregators, etc.)
- Oversight of subcontractors and coordination with key program partners
- Assisting in the design of energy programs
- Overseeing the work of other departmental staff providing services for contract
- Overseeing the work of the technical staff conducting energy audits and in-field energy assessments, on-site diagnostics, field data collection and analysis
- Managing and analyzing program data such as program pipeline, measure savings, project savings, regional project distribution, etc.
- Supporting database design and management
These job responsibilities may be revised over time to ensure the functional responsiveness of the Senior Program Manager to AEA and Federal and California State program requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or an Associate Degree.
- 6 years experience in a closely related role
- At least 3 years’ experience in staff supervision and management
- Experience managing large contracts with multiple subcontractors and team coordination
- Knowledge and experience in energy efficiency and green building principles.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to bring together various resources to work together collaboratively.
- Excellent communication, organization, presentation and analytical skills
- Advanced-level knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
- Knowledge and understanding of Title 24 and other building codes and standards
- Familiarity with local, state and federal incentive and rebate programs
- Ability to perform cost savings analyses and fuel data analyses
- Sound technical writing skills and experience
- Proficiency in Salesforce
