Position: Full Time Outreach and Training Peer SpecialistSalary: $50,000 per year; non-exempt.Hours: 37.5 per weekLocations: Community Outreach within Suffolk County. Office location in Ronkonkoma, NYAvailability: ImmediatelyThe Outreach and Training Peer Specialist develops and delivers curriculum to are agency designed to train individuals in the role of peer specialists. This includes helping individuals to explore the role through obtaining certification and; obtaining, and sustaining employment through outreach, training, internship, support, and advocacy services. This position is not providing direct peer support, although the candidate will have experience in proving direct peer support. This position required a NYS Peer Certification through the APS.This is not a clinical position, as it is reserved for a trained Peer Specialist who draws on lived experience to support and promote recovery. Responsibilities and tasks will include, but are not limited to:Develop and deliver training courses for the Careers in Recovery and Wellness/Peer Specialist Program; offering flexibility and hybrid optionsAssist all past graduates with career support and job explorationWork with collaborative partners to offer internship, volunteer and paid placementsPromote the program to ensure enrollment numbers are metOffer monthly job support meetings/groupsConnection, relationship building, and collaboration with agencies who are offering peer servicesContinually seek to enhance one’s skills, proficiency, philosophy, and practical understanding in all areas pertinent to peer support and peer servicesMaintain and update communication, data bases, and materialsRead and responds to emailsRequired Skills/Abilities: New York Certified Peer Specialist requiredAbility to demonstrate knowledge and practice of the values and principles of trauma-informed peer supportAbility to model, facilitate, and convey the message that healing is possible and probableAbility to offer, facilitate, inspire, and support others in offering mutual support through connection and base on the key principles of respect, shared responsibly, and mutual agreement of what is helpfulAbility to connect, validate, and be vulnerable with all peopleAbility and willingness to speak publicly and one-to-one using telephone, online platforms, and in personExhibit oral, reading, writing, and computer skillsEducation and Experience:New York Certified Peer Specialist 2 years delivering peer supportDemonstrated ability to conduct trainings/lead group discussion*Our full-time employees are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including:Medical, dental, and vision coveragePaid time off403b Retirement PlanMileage Reimbursement
