ASSYST is seeking a highly experienced DevOps Engineer to join our clients dynamic DevSecOps team. The ideal candidate will have 8 years of experience in automating and streamlining complex enterprise IT environments, with proven expertise in developing, configuring, and maintaining Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and tools. The role involves working closely with IT developers to improve collaboration across operations, development, and testing functions, with a focus on optimizing processes for scalability, automation, and high availability.

This position requires working under minimal direction, exercising considerable latitude for independent judgment, and providing on-call support, including nights and weekends, for critical environments.

Job Title: DevOps Engineer
Location: Austin, TX (Remote - Candidates must be located within the state of Texas)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, monitor, and enhance batch jobs and operational processes for improved performance and efficiency.
  • Implement and enhance CI/CD solutions by developing and maintaining automated pipelines for consistent and reliable deployments.
  • Utilize configuration management tools to automate updates and fixes across production and non-production environments.
  • Review and analyze current deployment processes, propose improvements, and streamline code deployments to minimize errors.
  • Install, configure, build, and deploy applications for Eligibility Supporting Technology across development, test, training, and production environments.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of processes and procedures.
  • Provide on-call triage support to ensure high availability for users across multiple environments (development, test, training, and production).
  • Assist with release and sprint-related activities to ensure smooth development cycles.
  • Develop and maintain automation solutions for existing processes while also designing new, scalable solutions.
  • Create detailed plans and proposals for new automation solutions, presenting them for approval.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 10 years of experience automating full lifecycle enterprise IT environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Configuration as Code (CaC), and CI/CD tools.
  • 10 years of experience designing and implementing automation solutions for scalability, repeatability, and recoverability, using tools such as Terraform, Ansible Automation Platform, Jenkins, Liquibase, GitHub Actions, and more.
  • 10 years of experience working with environments such as IBM WebSphere, MQ, Oracle, and AWS.
  • 8 years of experience with programming or scripting languages like Python, GoLang, Shell, Ruby, Perl, Bash.
  • 8 years of experience with containers and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, PODMAN, and packaging tools like Helm Charts and Kustomize.
  • 8 years of experience with both Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • 8 years of experience designing and implementing cloud solutions using the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • 5 years of development experience using Java technologies such as Java, J2EE, Spring Boot, EJB, JSP, JSF/Struts.
  • Experience with WebSphere ND, MQ, Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL Developer, LDAP, Splunk, and Dynatrace.
