Our Revenue Integrity team is looking for an experienced Coding Specialist to join us in our mission to improve the health of the communities we serve. Attention to detail, accuracy, and a strong drive for quality will lend itself well to success in this role. Primary responsibilities include review of medical record documentation for accurate ICD-10 and CPT coding of all Medicare and HB clinic-based records and support of quality metrics adherence, risk adjustment model capture, and hierarchical condition category (HCC) coding.
This position is 48 hours per pay period with the option to telecommute and has a flexible working schedule. Responsibilities required include, but are not limited to:
- Takes an active role in the Revenue Integrity team offering suggestions and providing expertise relating to reports needed and information required from the information system.
- Reviews medical record documentation, diagnoses, procedures, orders, and charges for accurate charge and code selection
- Accurately codes clinic-based records based on NCCI and payer guidelines with attention given to maximizing reimbursement
- Stays abreast of coding updates and clinical documentation standards
- Provides codes and coding expertise to other departments within hospital as requested
- Assists with coding-related denials management resolution
Competencies required:
- Patient confidentiality is strictly maintained.
- Excellent spelling capability.
- Able to organize and communicate effectively.
- Able to work and get along well with both hospital staff and physicians.
- Ability to effectively operate EPIC and 3M Coding Reimbursement Products
- Ability to effectively navigate Vitalware web-based solution
Education and experience required:
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience with medical terminology
- RHIT, CCS, AAPC or AHIMA Coding Credentials
- 1 years of experience in coding for clinic or hospital
