Job Description Scope: Documents, edits, modify and manages fiber optic network assets. Document fiber connectivity, routes and power specs. Digitize and record all passive and active network elements . Your Roles and Responsibilities: Document and manage fiber optic network assets for inside (CO/POP/ILA/Data Center) and outside plant (long haul) fiber networks. Research and develops fiber optic network techniques and approaches. Enters fiber, duct, and field infrastructure assets by reviewing design drawings, schematics, diagrams, and As-Builts into fiber optic network management software (OSPi, ArcGis, SmallWorld, etc). Validates design drawings by identifying, isolating, and resolving performance problems in relation to data entry for fiber optic network software. Enters proposed design changes and forced relocates, and once the work is complete ensures field data aligns and MAC activity is properly memorialized in the system. Use of related industry software to include MapInfo, AutoCAD (not required), Visio, Google Earth/Maps and MS Office software. Design and create OSP/ISP fiber paths and SR’s (splice records) to provide to the vendors to use for installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Document the companies data center and global Pop to Pop connectivity using: Netcracker V.1 Ensure splicing data integrity using Google tools and provide data checks and cable traces to the stakeholders. Point of contact for expansion projects, maintenance, and cleanup work. Analyze network data and provide feedback to other teams to help forecast for new projects while supporting network engineers,and field installation teams. Review vendor hand over documentation for accuracy. Collect necessary data from the field for determining a design including all necessary OSP features. Deliver working documentation for field survey and install teams. Create port reservations to facilitate active fiber/circuit deployments. Responsible for all information that is required to attach to a pole and complete all necessary measurements and photos. Manage and maintained several routes, buildings, and data centers in various metropolitan areas. Participate in 24/7 support with other teams across the globe. Some weekend work may be required. Qualifications Location: On-site - Applicant must be a commutable distance Thornton, CO. Required Qualifications/Skills: Working knowledge and experience with telecommunications construction techniques and engineering standards. Strong knowledge of Fiber construction operations/management/provisioning. Ability to identify and suggest all types of construction methods within ROW, identify assumed public ROW, visually identify existing utilities. Proven ability to create building, spaces, rooms and racks, panels, cabling and spliced cables. Ability to create duct systems, enclosures, splice capsules, trays, cables and splices. Able to identify potential cable moves, guying and anchoring requirements to make room for new cable attachments. Knowledge to create “how-to” process documentation. Experience with identifying issues in the field that would have a potential to impact network design. Proficiency in Fiber networking and cable routing. Knowledge of NESC requirements. Experience with interpreting cable or substructure designs. Experience in estimating existing utility locations. Basic Knowledge of Make-Ready Construction. Strong G-Suite skills Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, documentation).
