REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (civil, electrical, electronic, chemical, industrial, mechanical, aeronautical, systems, or computer) or in a Physical Science (e.g., mathematics, physics, meteorology, chemistry)
- 10 years of relevant experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree
- 1–20 years of relevant experience in systems engineering or integration
- Demonstrated experience with system-wide analysis and development life cycles
- Familiarity with Air Traffic Control systems and key NAS components (automation, communications, navigation, and surveillance)
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Master’s degree in a related field (may substitute for Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience)
- Ph.D. in a related field (may substitute for Bachelor's degree and 7 years of experience)
- Experience with FAA or other civil aviation authority programs
- Familiarity with system engineering methodologies such as INCOSE, MBSE, or DOORS
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct comprehensive system-wide reviews and technical analyses of NAS components throughout the development life cycle
- Support the integration and transition of legacy ATC systems to modernized platforms
- Evaluate and improve performance of ATC automation, communication, navigation, and surveillance systems
- Develop system-level requirements, architectures, and interface designs
- Identify system dependencies, risks, and mitigation strategies to ensure successful integration
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including engineering teams and program managers, to align systems design with operational requirements
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations to support system planning and implementation
- Support testing, verification, and validation of integrated NAS systems
