Shipping Lead

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• This position backs up the Shipping/Traffic Assistant in their absence.
• Run paperwork through for all shipments and receivables
• Load and unload trucks as needed
• Spot trailers as needed
• Check loads and verify all correct material has been loaded on trucks
• Place cradles and end caps for loads being shipped
• Make sure loaders follow FIFO.
• Consolidate bay locations based on the next day production schedule
• Fully qualified as loader and unloader
• Performs general housekeeping
• All other duties as assigned
• Regular, consistent physical attendance

• Organization: Must have sound organizational skills in order to process job and to keep previous, current, and next day paperwork separate.
• Communication: Ability to provide relevant and timely information in a clear manner to managers, co-workers, customers, vendors and truck drivers in a professional manner.
• Follow Through: Fulfill the requirements of the position as described. Ability to follow-through on completion of assigned tasks in a timely manner. Anticipates what needs to be done and proceeds without direction in a timely manner.
• Problem Solving: Ability to think through issues and develop solutions in a timely manner.
• Team Building: Willing to work with others and utilize group dynamic to form solutions.
• Mathematical Skills: Simple-add, subtract, multiply, divide simple numbers.
• Reading Skills: Ability to read and comprehend and interpret instructions and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Tools: Must be able to accurately read and use a tape measure.
• Specialized Skills: Must be able to pass forklift operators test and safely operate a forklift. Ability to perform mechanical check of forklift each shift and refuel within safety guidelines.
• Knowledgeable in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PeopleSoft.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE (include Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations required)

• High School education or equivalent
• Licenses to operate a forklift
• 2 years’ warehouse experience
