Position Summary

Responsibilities
- Coordinate and process employee disability claims, including short-term, long-term, and state-mandated disability programs
- Act as a liaison between employees, healthcare providers, and insurance carriers to ensure timely and accurate completion of disability paperwork
- Track disability leaves and ensure compliance with FMLA, ADA, and company leave policies
- Provide guidance to employees on eligibility requirements, documentation needs, and timelines for disability benefits
- Maintain accurate records of disability claims and return-to-work documentation
- Support HR and management in developing reasonable accommodation plans for employees returning from disability leave
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards when handling sensitive medical and disability-related information
- Monitor ongoing disability cases and follow up on extensions, denials, or transitions to long-term leave or other benefits
- Prepare or update employment records related to hiring, transferring, promoting, and terminating
- Support payroll through proper time and attendance and outreach to employees as needed
- Explain human resources policies, procedures, laws, and standards to new and existing employees
- Ensure new hire paperwork is completed and processed
- Assist in administration of benefit programs and heavily involved in open enrollment process
- Execute leave management process and support ongoing communication with employees
- Address employment relations issues and execute disciplinary process as needed
- Process personnel action forms and ensure proper approval
- Ensure all employee records are maintained and updated with new hire information or changes in employment status.
- Work closely with onboarding team to ensure all pre-hires have an impactful experience in becoming a new hire
- Respond to employees’ queries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist Director, Human Resources with all other HR responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of proven experience in an HR Generalist position
- Strong understanding of disability laws at a state and federal level; proven experience with employees on FMLA
- Good understanding of the onboarding process
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, or a relevant field required
