POSITION SUMMARY:
Directs the activities of employees engaged in manufacturing activities including but not limited to training and supervising, maintaining a positive work environment, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and upholding company policies and procedures. This position is responsible for monitoring and reporting department and company metrics and achieving goals as set by the management team.
PAY RANGE: $73,975 - $88,770 - $103,565

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- Supervises all production activities performed by employees; maintains a high degree of visibility and access to employees throughout the shift.
- Maintains department standards for productivity, reliability, and accuracy.
- Maintains data on individual employee performance to department standards.
- Responsible for providing feedback to employees on performance through informal (day to day interaction) and formal methods (yearly written appraisal, documented disciplinary action).
- Monitors and reports daily production results, material usage, waste, and downtime, evaluates any gaps to department goals, and provides explanation and corrective actions for gaps.
- Maintains employee timecards and approvals for payroll on a weekly basis.
- Supports cost reduction, 5S and continuous improvement efforts.
- Reports equipment problems to appropriate maintenance department personnel.
- Coordinates with quality control to maintain quality standards; takes appropriate corrective measures to resolve deficiencies.
- Assists, under guidance from the Operations Manager, with development & implementation of policies and procedures for personnel issues including but not limited to rewards, disciplinary action, time off approvals, daily and weekly overtime, hiring, and training.
- Performs required administrative tasks; prepares required reports and correspondence, including assigned KPI reporting.
- Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of equipment and facilities; takes corrective action to resolve deficiencies.
- Resolves production-related issues with representatives from other departments throughout the company.
- Maintains a working knowledge of all operating systems pertaining to the work area.
- Participates in safety programs and all required safety training for employees and coordinates tracking with HR.
- Performs other duties as assigned by manager.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE:
At least 2-4 years' experience in a manufacturing operation or supervisory role. Well-developed ability to use computer and software applications including ERP systems (Epicor/Vantage experience is a plus) and Microsoft Office applications. Work cohesively with members of various departments. Can effectively communicate (written/verbal) information critical to an operation. Ability to adjust and react to sudden operational changes. Experience in working in capacity constrained manufacturing environment. Prior experience working in a union shop.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-4 years manufacturing/supervisory experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft applications
- Conflict resolution skills
- Previous experience in a union shop a plus
- Intermediate math skills
- Knowledge of metal and/or tube drawing, and firearm products a plus
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
READING SKILLS:
Ability to read, write and comprehend materials in English.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply 'common sense' understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
