We are seeking a creative, dynamic and compassionate individual to fill an immediate need for a Controller to assist the Manager of Finance and Accounting to evaluate financial performance of the organization with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets, and forecasts. Primary responsibilities include:
▪ Preparing and presenting monthly financial budgeting reports including monthly profit and loss, forecast vs. budget, and weekly cash flow by programs;
▪ Managing the accounting department (currently three staff members) with transparency, approachability and trust;
▪ Reviewing all month-end closing activities including general ledger accounts, balance sheet accounts, and overhead cost allocation;
▪ Identifying, acquiring, and implementing systems and software to provide critical financial and operational information and make suggestions for automating processes and increasing efficiency;
▪ Working collaboratively with the Qualifacts (EHR) System Administrator to ensure efficiency in billing and collections;
▪ Working cooperatively with IT to uplift and integrate financial functions and reporting;
▪ Serving as a key point of contact for external auditors. Manage preparation and support of all external audits.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
▪ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. MBA or CPA desirable.
▪ Previous experience managing diverse revenue streams, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
▪ Ten plus years accounting or finance experience and a minimum of 3 years supervising staff.
▪ Experience with MIP Fund Accounting or other nonprofit accounting products.
▪ Outstanding knowledge and understanding of GAAP.
▪ Background coordinating with IT staff to manage and/or upgrade accounting systems. Systems implementation experience preferred.
▪ Previous Electronic Health Record (EHR) Systems experience.
▪ Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
▪ Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence, and management presence – ability to motivate staff.
▪ Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
▪ Significant experience working with external auditors, internal controls, and compliance-related issues.
This position requires a valid driver’s license, vehicle and proof of insurance. Required to apply for Act 33/34 clearances (criminal and child abuse) as well as FBI clearance. Pre-employment drug screening and random employment drug testing required.
