Job Overview

The Head of Risk is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks that could impact the organization’s financial performance, reputation, and overall operations. This role involves developing risk management frameworks, implementing risk controls, and advising senior management on risk-related issues. The Head of Risk ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and promotes a culture of risk awareness throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management framework that aligns with the organization’s strategic goals.
• Identify, assess, and prioritize risks across all areas of the organization, including financial, operational, strategic, and compliance risks.
• Design and implement risk mitigation strategies, policies, and procedures to minimize potential risks.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of risk management practices and make recommendations for improvements.
• Prepare and present regular risk reports to senior management and the board, highlighting key risks and mitigation efforts.
• Collaborate with other departments to integrate risk management practices into business processes.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and industry standards related to risk management.
• Lead and develop a team of risk management professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and risk awareness.
• Conduct risk assessments for new projects, products, and strategic initiatives.
• Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to risk management.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field; a master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., FRM, PRM, CRM) is preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in risk management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, tools, and best practices.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing risk management strategies and controls.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Proficiency in risk management software and tools.
