August Schell Brewing Company is a family owned and operated brewery in New Ulm, Minnesota. We began in 1860 when August Schell, a German immigrant, couldn’t find a traditional German beer in his new home that was good enough. So, he made his own. While the brewery has seen some changes, like plumbing, August’s legacy of being an innovative brew master remains. It has continued through six generations and over 100 varieties of German Craft beer.
We are looking for a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at Schell's Brewery! The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and improving mechanical and light electrical work throughout the brewery. Various duties performed will include repair of mechanical and electrical equipment, preventative maintenance (PM’s) completion, installation of new/repaired equipment, capital & major maintenance projects execution.
REPONSIBILITIES
- Brings forward opportunities to improve the operation and maintenance of various equipment and production systems.
- Supports company objectives of improving facility safety, product quality & manufacturing productivity while reducing costs.
- Repairing equipment but not limited to pumps, heat exchangers, conveyors, packaging machines, fillers, gearboxes, automation, HMI’s, PLC’s,
- Maintains various types of plant equipment by performing predictive maintenance work, preventative maintenance work, troubleshooting and machine repairs in a timely manner.
- Assist with installation of new, used, and repaired equipment throughout the brewery.
- Takes responsibility and ownership of repairs to see the job completion within time demands.
- Fabricate and weld any required items
- Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Train and support staff on equipment upgrades, repairs, PM’s, projects, etc.
- Understand functions of ammonia, glycol and CO2 systems.
- Other tasks as assigned.
- Responsible for working in a safe and effective manner in compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, company and facility health and safety, fire, environmental, quality and general ordinances/policies
- May serve as a backup operator in the bottle house to cover absences.
Requirements
DESIRED SKILLS
- Experience with processing or high-speed packaging on a continuous production line.
- Experience of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Capability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and controls
- Boiler license is preferred but not required
- Strong Computer skills including experience on CMMS system.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Good organizational and communication skills
- Ability to operate forklift
- Ability to work on feet for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
- Flexible to meet the seasonal production needs.
- Ability to take occasional service calls.
