Deputy Clerk
The Augusta County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office is seeking to employ an entry-level, full-time position as Deputy Clerk.
The successful candidate will record land record documents into a digital land record system which entails: reviewing the document for compliance to the State Library standards, proper signatures, appropriate property location and proper notarization; compute state and local grantor/grantee taxes based on the consideration or loan amount and complete Clerk’s fees; maintain document control numbers; input correct recording information into recording software and receipt with accuracy through the land record system.
Additional duties will include indexing land records into a public data system, recording judgements, and assisting the public in accessing digital records. This position will assist the public with Concealed Handgun Permit applications, Marriage License applications, and Notary commissions. Duties will also include assisting with the jury management system, inputting juror questionnaires, juror communications, and other related duties as designated by the Clerk of Circuit Court.
Skills required for a successful candidate include: excellent customer service; attention to detail; ability to multi-task under pressure; work as a team player, and proficiency in operating a computer, telephone, copier, and fax machine.
The minimum education requirement is a High School Diploma. Higher education in the fields of business or paralegal studies, and/or work in a Circuit Court Clerk’s Office, or in a similar office setting are preferred.
This position is full-time with an offering salary of $39,233. This position includes Augusta County benefits. Candidates must pass a criminal background check prior to employment.
