Dedication Education Unit is a 22-bed unit focused on teaching our new graduated nurses’ foundational skills during the first stages of their orientation. Nurses working on this unit are highly engaged preceptors who strive to leave their legacy within the next generation of nurses. Nurses on this unit care for adult patients who are acutely ill with a wide variety of medical problems. The patient population on the Dedicated Education Unit includes renal, pulmonary, infectious disease, GI issues, hospice, and more. As a nurse on our unit, you will be a part of a multidisciplinary team to coordinate direct patient care, education, and serve as the leader of the patient care team while teaching our next generation of nurses. A registered professional nurse is responsible for the delivery of patient care for assigned patients on a specific shift worked. Coordinator of the nursing plan of care as well as carrying out physician orders and nursing standards of care using the nursing process. Also directs and guides other members of the patient care team.

Requirements
- Nursing Diploma and/or Associate Degree in Nursing
- BSN, MSN preferred
- Educational requirements per hospital certifications (Example: Stroke, Orthopedic/Spine)
- Current and valid Registered nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or from a state that is part of a Compact agreement with Virginia
- CPR
- PCU- ACLS within one year of hire
Skills:
- Unit and annual competencies to be completed each year
- HIPPA - no breaches of confidentiality. No related complaints voiced on patient satisfaction surveys. no related complaints voiced by fellow care providers of observed incidences
- Knowledgeable of location and content of departmental policies and procedures
- Nurse Practice Act-Scope of Practice
- Basic computer skills
- National Patient Safety Goals
