The full-time position of LOGISTICS SPECIALIST reports to the Logistics Manager Aurubis Richmond and to the Team Lead Transportation Management Aurubis AG and is responsible for the disposition of means of transport to ensure on-time delivery. His primary assignment is for the Richmond site but can be used for dispatching at any Aurubis site. This includes following tasks (but is not limited to): Order processing, provision, and organization of freight space, considering the appropriate modes of transport and the respective loading/unloading capacities of the respective operations, deadline tracking, invoice clarification, customs clearance & claims. Identify of weak points in transport management and support in the design of new group-wide IT systems, processes as well as change requests with a focus on Richmond.

Your Tasks
- Responsible for transport scheduling to ensure on-time delivery, such as but not limited to order processing, provision and organization of freight space considering the appropriate modes of transportation, deadline tracking, invoice clarification, customs clearance, and claims.
- Checking and coordinating the in-house loading and unloading capacities and scheduling the transport orders accordingly.
- Processing and checking order confirmations according to internal and external standards.
- Monitoring and coordination of inbound arrival and outbound delivery dates.
- Securing freight space under consideration of economic aspects.
- Proactive forwarding in case of delivery date changes to the customer.
- Checking and organizing customs clearance (plausibility check, warranty, legal compliance, and audit security).
- Ensuring compliance with dangerous goods legislation.
- Participation in the development of potentials for risk minimization in transport management.
- Checking invoices that deviate from the purchase order.
- Obtaining all necessary documents for import/export processing.
- Active knowledge transfer to colleagues.
- Support in logistics projects, lessons learned.
- Communication with suppliers and the respective departments.
- Implementation of measures to improve delivery performance (incl. troubleshooting)
- Claim processing.
- Review of the performance of the forwarders.
- Support/preparation of carrier feedback/audits.
- Identification of weak points in transport management.
- Support of the team Group Logistics in the design of new IT systems, processes as well as change requests.
- Establish and maintain communications between all stakeholders (internal and external).
- Consultation with authorities regarding customs clearance.
- Work together with logistics, customer service, sampling, and production departments.
- Extensive contact with internal/external customers, forwarders, and customer service departments to identify, research, analyze, and resolve issues.
Your Profile
REQUIRED
- Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in related logistics
- Proven work experience as a logistics specialist, ideally in an international environment.
- Previous experience creating and presenting to various levels, including relevant stakeholders and external partners.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP) and product flows.
- Experience with transport web platforms (Transporeon)
- Strong computer skills (business system, email, Microsoft Office Suite).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (esp. Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Solid knowledge of potentially hazardous materials.
- Good knowledge of customs clearance.
- If filled with an internal current employee of Aurubis, the individual must be willing to relocate to the US for a minimum of three (3) years with a possibility of extension upon approval, if needed.
- Must be conversant in current DOT and OSHA regulations.
- Good in conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.
- Demonstrated ability to work in and through teams at all levels of the workforce
- Must be able to present information to management and forwarder effectively
- German basic knowledge
PREFERRED
- Possess an understanding of chemical or metallurgical (production) processes and requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret prints, drawings, and layouts.
- Speaking and listening language skills in a 2nd language is preferred, ideally German.

EDUCATION REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in the field of SCM, Logistics & Transportation, or 5 (five) years equivalent advanced work as a Dispatcher.
- A Master’s Degree is considered a plus but is not required.
- Open to obtaining additional certification at the company’s request.
