Our team in the US is growing. We are currently recruiting for an Intermediate Electrical & Instrumentation Designer to join our Minerals & Metals Business line in the Tucson office. As an Electrical Designer, you will contribute to the development of electrical layouts, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and work closely with electrical engineers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate and coordinated design output. This role will be responsible for producing single line drawings, high-quality 3D CADD design drawings and following the needs of client projects and in compliance with Ausenco company standards and processes. The role involves working closely with other designers and engineers to bring innovative, cost-effective solutions to our mining and minerals process plant design projects. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in electrical drafting for of experience in electrical design for mining, mineral processing, or industrial facilities applications and a keen eye for quality and constructability.

About The Role

  • Prepare and revise electrical design drawings including single-line diagrams, cable routing, lighting layouts, grounding systems, panel schedules, and termination details.
  • Work closely with Electrical Engineers to translate conceptual designs into detailed drawings and 3D models.
  • Use design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or other CAD systems to develop deliverables in accordance with project standards and codes.
  • Assist with the development of material take-offs, cable schedules, and equipment lists.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical, instrumentation) to ensure seamless integration across design packages.
  • Apply company and client design standards, safety practices, and quality control measures throughout the design process.
  • Participate in design reviews, model walk-throughs, and constructability assessments.
  • Maintain drawing registers and manage document revisions in accordance with project workflows and control systems.

About You

  • Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Design, Drafting, or Engineering Technology.
  • 5 years of experience in electrical design for mining, mineral processing, or industrial facilities.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD; experience with SmartPlant Electrical, Navisworks, or similar tools is an asset is desirable.
  • Understanding of relevant codes and standards (e.g., IEC, NEC, IEEE).
  • Familiarity with electrical equipment such as MCCs, switchgear, transformers, cable trays, and lighting systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to work independently or in a collaborative environment.
  • Exposure to EPC/EPCM project environments is preferred.
