Ironworker
An ironworker is a skilled tradesperson who works with iron and steel to construct, reinforce, and repair metal structures. They are responsible for assembling, fabricating, and installing the structural frameworks of buildings, bridges, and other large-scale projects. This includes interpreting blueprints, cutting, and shaping metal, welding, bolting, and ensuring the structural integrity and safety of the framework.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reads blueprints and selects required material for construction.
- Sets up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural steel members.
- Fastens steel members to cable of hoist, using chain, cable, or rope.
- Guides structure being lifted into proper position and aligns rivet holes with corresponding holes.
- Drives drift pins through rivet holes.
- May assist in lifting, positions and securing materials and work pieces during installation.
- Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment using plumb bob and level. Bolts align members to keep them in position until they can be permanently bolted or welded in place.
- Bolts aligned structures to keep them in position until permanently riveted, bolted or welded into place.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required for this Position:
Education: – no minimum education requirements.
Certifications/ Licenses: Valid State ID or Driver’s License
Experience: – 5 years of Journeyman level experience.
