What are the responsibilities and job description for the Criminal Defense Legal Assistant/Paralegal position at Austin Stinnett, Attorney at Law?
Open new files and draft and file various documents with local Courts.
Field phone calls from current and prospective Clients.
Set appointments and maintain up-to-date calendar for attorney.
Communicate with Clients regarding Court Dates and other information; Court Clerks and Judicial Assistants regarding appointments and scheduling; Rehabilitation Facilities and Jail Administration regarding Clients records and admissions.
Download and organize Discovery from Prosecutors or other professionals (e.g. Medical Records, Body Cam Footage, Arrest Reports, etc.).
Track caseload and follow as cases move through their respective stages.
Maintain and Submit Bills for time worked and other costs.
Extensive use with Word, Excel, Gmail, Practice Management Software(MyCase), Alacourt, and Alafile.
Any other miscellaneous task that may arise in the day to day operation of a criminal defense practice.
Applicants who are already an Alabama Notary are preferred, but not required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
