The Outside Sales Representative role focuses on expanding market share by promoting products and generating new business through direct customer interactions in the food service, hospitality, and laundry sectors. This position demands high energy, motivation, and strong organizational skills to meet sales goals in a designated territory.
- Sales responsibilities and customer engagement: The representative conducts daily face-to-face cold calls, prepares and delivers sales proposals, follows up with key decision makers, and consults with clients post-sale to resolve issues and provide support. They also arrange product delivery and installation and negotiate contract details.
- Required skills and knowledge: Candidates must understand sales and marketing principles, customer service standards, and have strong communication, time management, negotiation, and mechanical aptitude skills. Organizational and planning abilities are also essential.
- Work conditions and physical demands: The role requires significant travel (80%) within the service territory, a Monday through Friday schedule, and physical activities including frequent standing, walking, sitting, handling, bending, and occasional climbing or crawling. Lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally is expected. Use of personal protective equipment may be necessary.
- Qualifications and preferences: Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 1-4 years of B2B sales experience with strong performance, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and a valid driver's license with a good record.
