What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pipe Layer (Underground Utilities) position at Autry Grading, Inc.?
Autry Grading is looking for experienced pipe layers to work hand in hand with general laborers and foreman to complete projects. Experience laying underground public utilities including sanitary sewer, storm drain, and water lines is a MUST. This is not an entry level position, serious applicants only.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Must be committed to providing and promoting a safe work environment;
- Communicate with Foreman as to the daily job specifications;
- Ability to follow directions;
- Performs various skilled task which are associated with utility installation operations. This includes but not limited to uses various tools such as a shovel, rake, lute, broom, pick, hammer, saw, pneumatic hammer, drill, tamp and concrete saw;
- Ability to perform the essential job functions and perform other duties as assigned;
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- The job requires the following motions: standing, walking, stretching, bending, lifting, pulling, twisting, throwing, reaching and squatting;
- Safely and efficiently working in trenches and excavations;
- Shoveling dirt and stone to establish grade, some masonry work or concrete work, operating small compactors;
- Using a pipe laser and target to lay pipe straight and true to desired grade;
- Requires lifting of or in excess of 25 pounds and occasionally up to 80 pounds;
- Walking and standing may require a full day of 9 to 12 hours;
- Will be exposed to sometimes extreme hot and cold temperatures; and
- Jobs requires riding to and from projects in various locations within our geographic region. If driving a company vehicle, company policies on drivers must be met;
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check;
- Be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document;
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times;
- Report to work at the designated start time;
- Be able to work long hours when required;
- Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook;
- Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required;
- Be at least age 18 years of age.
- Prefer a valid NC Drivers License
